CVSS v3.1

5.3

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions PluXml versions 5.8.22 and earlier
Description When the anti-spam captcha functionality is enabled, PluXml generates captcha challenges in a format that can be automatically recognized. This allows automated scripts to bypass the anti-spam mechanism and publish spam comments. The details of the captcha challenge, including capcha-letter, capcha-word, and capcha-token, are exposed within the document body of articles with comments and anti-spam captcha functionalities enabled. Attackers can exploit this to flood articles with automated spam comments, particularly if other web defenses are absent.
Recommendations Disable the anti-spam captcha functionality in PluXml versions 5.8.22 and earlier.
