Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the Linux kernel's networking subsystem related to handshake cancellations. Specifically, duplicate cancellation requests for the same handshake request can lead to a reference count underflow. This occurs because a handshake request, after being cancelled, remains present in a hash table until destroyed, allowing a second cancellation request to process it, resulting in an incorrect reference count. This issue can be triggered, for example, when a handshake times out, potentially during a scenario where a SUNRPC client sends an authentication probe but fails to complete the handshake.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
