Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw in the powerpc/64s/slb subsystem related to the SLB preload cache on systems utilizing a hash MMU. Specifically, inconsistencies can arise between the hardware SLB and the software preload cache when a process migrates between CPUs without a full MMU context switch. This can lead to stale entries in the hardware SLB. If the kernel attempts to reload these stale entries, an SLB multi-hit error can occur. The issue stems from optimizations that skip the
switch mmu context() function when the previous and next mm struct are identical, which can cause the hardware SLB and software preload cache to become desynchronized.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
