Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
NetSchedScan version 1.0
Description
A buffer overflow occurs in the scan Hostname/IP field, allowing local attackers to crash the application by providing an oversized input string. By entering a crafted payload consisting of 388 bytes of data followed by 4 bytes of EIP overwrite into the Hostname/IP field, a denial of service condition is triggered. EIP (Extended Instruction Pointer) is a register that points to the next instruction to be executed.
