Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Simple Random Posts Shortcode versions prior to 0.4
Description
The Simple Random Posts Shortcode plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting issue. Authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. This occurs because the plugin fails to properly sanitize input and escape output for the
container right width attribute within the 'simple random posts' shortcode. These scripts execute whenever a user visits the affected page.Recommendations
Update the plugin to a version newer than 0.3.
As a temporary workaround, restrict the use of the
container right width attribute in the 'simple random posts' shortcode.Fix
