Description A flaw in the readelf utility allows a local attacker to cause a denial of service by providing a specially crafted Executable and Linkable Format (ELF) file. This can occur through two mechanisms: resource exhaustion, which leads to an out-of-memory condition, and a null pointer dereference, which causes a segmentation fault. These issues result in the utility crashing or becoming unresponsive.
