Description An issue exists in the Ceph component where page array emplacement errors are incorrectly propagated as batch errors. When fscrypt is enabled, the move dirty folio in page array() function may fail during the allocation of bounce buffers using GFP NOWAIT. The ceph process folio batch() function fails to reset the rc variable after such failures, causing the error to propagate to the main writeback loop. This can lead to a system crash (oops) in the worker because ceph allocate page array() triggers a BUG ON() if ceph wbc.pages is not properly passed to ceph submit write() for freeing before the next iteration.

Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
