Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Argo CD (affected versions not specified)
Description
An incomplete fix in the server-side diff functionality allows authenticated users to view sensitive Kubernetes Secret values. When using the
argocd app diff --server-side-diff command, the system fails to fully sanitize Secret data stored within the kubectl.kubernetes.io/last-applied-configuration annotation. This occurs because the HideSecretData() function only rewrites the annotation on the live state object, leaving the predicted live state object unmasked. Consequently, raw data, stringData, and sensitive annotations from Secrets created via client-side apply can be exposed in the UI or CLI diffs through the 'ServerSideDiff' endpoint.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
