Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
OpenClaw versions prior to 2026.5.2
Description
A path traversal issue exists in the maintenance task execution process where workspace-derived service paths can influence the selection of the
trash command. By manipulating workspace-derived environment paths, an attacker can execute unintended local executables from paths not intended by the operator during maintenance operations.Recommendations
Update to version 2026.5.2.
Keep maintenance flows on trusted workspaces and fixed service paths.
Maintain narrow channel and tool allowlists.
Avoid sharing a single Gateway between mutually untrusted users.
Disable the maintenance task execution feature when it is not needed.
