Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Craft CMS versions 5.0.0-RC1 through 5.9.20
Description
An authorization flaw exists in the
EntriesController::actionMoveToSection() endpoint. The system validates the destination section using the viewEntries:$section->uid permission instead of requiring the saveEntries permission. While the source entry is verified via Entry::canMove(), a low-privileged authenticated control-panel user capable of moving an entry can use the moveEntryToSection() function to change the sectionId of an entry. This allows the user to save content into a section where they possess read access but lack write access, bypassing section-level authorization and potentially disrupting editorial boundaries, approval workflows, and section-specific business logic.Recommendations
Update Craft CMS to version 5.9.21.
