Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
NanoMQ (affected versions not specified)
Description
A protocol-semantics flaw exists in the MQTT v5
SUBSCRIBE handling. If a subscription entry lacks the final 1-byte Subscription Options field, the broker may accept the malformed packet and install the subscription into the internal broker state. This parsing defect can also lead to a 1-byte out-of-bounds read that crosses the heap allocation boundary, which may be detected as a heap-buffer-overflow. If the read byte is acceptable, the broker may append the malformed entry into the subinfol state, causing a packet that should be rejected to be treated as a successful subscription.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
