Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Analog Way Picturall Quad Compact Mark II version 3.5.8
Description A local privilege escalation flaw exists in the core firmware due to improper privilege delegation and insufficient input validation within a maintenance script. The create local installer.sh script runs as root when executed by the low-privileged picmedia user. The script fails to sanitize input from the picturall-version.txt file within attacker-supplied Ext4 disk images, allowing for directory traversal. This enables an attacker to perform arbitrary file writes as root to sensitive system locations, such as /etc/cron.d, which can lead to root-level command execution.
Recommendations Update Analog Way Picturall Quad Compact Mark II version 3.5.8 to a patched version. Restrict execution permissions for the create local installer.sh script to minimize the risk of exploitation.
