Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Heimdall Data Database Proxy (affected versions not specified)
Description
Remote authenticated attackers can execute arbitrary code with root privileges on affected installations. The issue stems from the lack of proper neutralization of CRLF (Carriage Return Line Feed) sequences within the
generateFileContent() function. CRLF injection occurs when an application fails to filter these characters, allowing an attacker to insert new lines into a protocol or file, which in this case leads to remote code execution.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
generateFileContent() function to minimize the risk of exploitation. Found an issue in the description? Have something to add? Feel free to write us 👾
