Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.19.0-rc4-next-20260108-00024-g2202f4d30aa8
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw related to a race condition in the serial driver. Specifically, the
tty->port may not be properly set, leading to a potential kernel crash when opening a console. This issue arises from a reversion of a previous fix intended to address this exact problem. The problem is reproducible on Qualcomm SoC platforms with fast boot times and a single serial device configured as the console, resulting in a warning message: 'tty init dev: ttyMSM driver does not set tty->port'. The vulnerability occurs during the process of registering the serial port and configuring it as a console, where the tty->port is not correctly linked to the driver before being used.Recommendations
Update to Linux kernel version 6.19.0-rc4-next-20260108-00024-g2202f4d30aa8 or a later version to resolve this issue.
