CVE-2026-23177

None

No severity ratings or metrics are available. When they are, we'll update the corresponding info on the page.
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the Linux kernel related to shared memory (shmem) handling during file truncation. Specifically, an infinite loop can occur when truncating a large swap entry due to a race condition. This happens when the index points to the middle of a large swap entry, and the entry doesn't cross the end border. The shmem free swap() function fails and returns 0, leading to a retry with the same index, resulting in an infinite loop. The issue arises from an incorrect check within the shmem free swap() function and a missing condition in the retry logic.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
