CVE-2026-23188

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The Realtek r8152 USB network adapter can trigger a device reset during the reset process, potentially leading to a deadlock. This occurs because the rtl8152 resume function calls reset while holding the tp->control mutex, and the reset function attempts to re-acquire the same mutex, resulting in a recursive mutex lock deadlock. The issue manifests as a device timeout and potential system panic. The fix involves resetting the INACCESSIBLE device outside the tp->control mutex scope to prevent the recursive mutex lock.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
