Linux · Linux Kernel · CVE-2013-6376
**Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions**
Linux kernel versions prior to 3.12.6
**Description**
The issue allows guest OS users to cause a denial of service, resulting in a host OS crash, by performing a crafted ICR write operation in x2apic mode. This is due to a problem in the recalculate apic map function.
**Recommendations**
For versions prior to 3.12.6, update to version 3.12.6 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the `recalculate apic map` function in the KVM subsystem to minimize the risk of exploitation.
