Unknown · Domain Name Relay Daemon · CVE-2005-2316
**Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions**
Domain Name Relay Daemon (DNRD) versions prior to 2.19.1
**Description**
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service due to infinite recursion. This can be achieved via a DNS packet that utilizes message compression in the QNAME and includes two pointers that point to each other, creating a circular buffer.
**Recommendations**
For versions prior to 2.19.1, update to version 2.19.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the DNS service to minimize the risk of exploitation.
